The exhibition is ending by May 29th. You can still make it for the Mapplethorpe+Munch show!
There are a number of fascinating parallels and similarities between Norway’s greatest artist Edvard Munch and Robert Mapplethorpe, one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century. They both worked in traditional genres, primarily portraits and nudes. They both caused scandal with their art. And this is explored in the Mapplethorpe + Munch exhibition: 141 works by Mapplethorpe and 95 works by Munch. The show includes a series of self-portraits by both artists, and Mapplethorpe’s known celebrity portraits of Patti Smith, Arnold Schwarzenegger and others.
