During their 1990–91 Paris sojourn, Igor Makarevich, Yuri Vassiliev, and Oleg Vaschenko, and their respective families, lived in the aptly named La Maison Rouge. A stately mansion located in Boissy-Saint-Léger, in the southeastern suburbs of Paris. La Maison Rouge served as the hub of the Russian artistic community in Paris at the time of the three artists’ stay, visited by major Russian artists, writers, and critics.
Øivind Johansen sponsored the entire stay and production.
